What time does camp begin and end each day?
All camps start at 8:00am each day. The end time of camp depends on which camp your student is in. The first camp consisting of older students ends at 5:00pm each day and our younger student camp ends at 3:00pm.
What does a normal day of camp look like?
A normal day at camp follows a tight schedule to make sure the entire show is ready to perform in just two weeks. Each day, students will be working closely with the FRTC staff to block scenes, choreograph dances, and musically learn the show. This structured approach helps ensure that all aspects of the production come together smoothly, allowing each student to focus on their role and contribute to the success of the show. The schedule is designed to maximize rehearsal time while also allowing for learning and creativity to thrive!
When do students get breaks, and what does lunch and snack time look like?
Students will have regular breaks throughout the day, including time for snacks, lunch, and water breaks to stay refreshed and energized. Lunchtime lasts at least 30 minutes, allowing students to eat, relax, and, if weather permits, enjoy fresh air or use the playground. Snack breaks are scheduled throughout the day to keep campers fueled and ready for rehearsals. We ensure a balance between learning, rehearsal, and downtime so students can stay focused and engaged.
What if my student needs to miss a day of camp?
We understand that conflicts may arise, but because camp is fast-paced and each day is crucial to the production, absences can impact rehearsals. If your student needs to miss a day, please notify the camp staff as soon as possible so we can adjust accordingly. Students should review any missed material at home, including lines, songs, choreography, or blocking, to stay caught up.
How does pick-up and drop-off work? Do I need to sign my student in and out every day?
Drop-off begins at 7:45 AM, and camp starts promptly at 8:00 AM. Parents do not need to sign students in, but we ask that students arrive on time and be ready for the day.
For pick-up, parents should arrive at the designated time based on their student’s camp group. Younger students are dismissed at 3:00 PM, and older students at 5:00 PM. To ensure safety, a staff member will supervise dismissal. If someone other than a parent or guardian is picking up a student, please notify camp staff in advance.
What opportunities do you have for students that are interested in tech?
At our theatre camp, we offer a variety of tech opportunities, giving campers hands-on experience in all areas of technical theatre. Whether you're interested in lighting, sound, set construction, props, or costumes, you'll have the chance to learn and apply real-world theatre skills. Campers will work directly with our technical director to use tools, equipment, and design elements, helping bring the production to life behind the scenes. From building and painting sets to programming lights and running sound cues, every role is essential to creating a successful show. This hands-on experience allows campers to explore different aspects of technical theatre, gain valuable skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for the work that happens offstage!

What should my student bring with them to camp each day?
You should bring a water bottle, sack lunch, pencil, closed-toe shoes, and a script to camp every day.
What should my student wear to camp?
Your student should wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing that they can easily act, dance, and move in. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety, especially during tech activities or stage movement. Avoid flip-flops or sandals. If there are themed spirit days, students are encouraged to dress up while still being able to participate in all camp activities or bring a change or clothes and/or shoes.
What are at home expectations for camp?
At home during theatre camp, the expectations are to rest and recover after a busy day of rehearsals and activities. It’s important for students to give themselves time to recharge. Along with resting, they should also review and rehearse any lines, songs, or blocking they’ve worked on, so they’re prepared for the next day.

What are behavior expectations of my student while at camp?
At Front Range Theatre Company, we foster a creative and supportive environment where every camper can thrive. Respect for oneself, fellow campers, staff, and the facilities is fundamental, and we encourage open communication and kindness in all interactions. Theatre is a collaborative art form, so teamwork is essential—campers are expected to support one another and celebrate each other's successes. Responsibility is also key, as campers should take care of their belongings, props, costumes, and the camp environment. Active participation in all activities, from rehearsals to workshops, helps ensure personal growth and the success of our productions. We value a positive attitude and resilience, encouraging campers to embrace mistakes as opportunities for learning. Most importantly, safety is our top priority, and all campers must follow guidelines and listen to staff instructions to maintain a secure and welcoming space. By upholding these expectations, we create a community where creativity flourishes and lifelong friendships are formed.
If a camper does not meet these expectations, we will address the behavior in a way that promotes learning and personal growth. Minor issues may result in a gentle reminder or a conversation with a staff member. Repeated or more serious behavior concerns may lead to a discussion with parents or guardians, temporary removal from an activity, or, in extreme cases, dismissal from camp. Our goal is always to guide campers toward making positive choices while maintaining a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

What are camp spirit days?
Camp spirit days are special dress-up days where campers wear outfits that match a specific theme, usually inspired by the show they’re working on. These themes help build excitement, creativity, and camaraderie among the cast and crew. These dress-up days encourage everyone to have fun, get into character, and celebrate the production in a unique way!

What does the day look like on performance days?
During the day of the Friday performance students will attend camp as normal and then stay at camp till the performance. Students will need to bring a dinner with them or have it dropped off around dinner time. Camp staff also give students an opportunity to turn in cash for pizza that will be delivered around dinner time.
During the day on the Saturday performance students will be given a call time about an hour and a half before show time (this specific time varies and will be shared with students by the FRTC staff). Students will stay at the venue in between shows if Saturday is a two show day. Campers will need to bring a dinner with them or have it dropped off around dinner time.
